Mary Stein is the proud founder, owner and director of Dream BIG Day Camp, Denver’s premier camping experience for children. After leaving a successful NYC/Westchester County counseling career with children and families, she has enjoyed over 20 years in the camping community. Founded in 2005, Dream BIG Day Camp is a culmination of her own dream of returning to Denver and starting a first class children’s camp.
Mary is a former owner and director of Camp Echo Lake, a full season residential camp founded in 1945 in Warrensburg, NY. Echo Lake serves approximately 500 children and employs 200 staff members each summer. She graduated from the University of Colorado and earned her Master’s Degree from Fordham University in New York. Mary currently serves on the board of the Rose Women’s Organization, a volunteer-led collaborative giving group of the Rose Community Foundation. She has held various board positions including the American Camp Association, Project Morry and the Montessori School of Denver. Mary is a seasoned community volunteer who specializes in creating numerous fundraising events as well as strengthening existing ones. She was nominated as one of Denver Business Journal’s Outstanding Women in Business and was recently welcomed into the Colorado Chapter of the Entrepreneur’s Organization, a dynamic, global network of more than 9,500 business owners.
Mary is the mother of twin 12-year-old boys and actively fosters and supports their desire to make a significant difference in the world. She loves skiing and cycling with her children as well as cheering them on at their numerous athletic events. Mary’s tennis team won the 2013 USTA Colorado Championship and traveled to the USTA Regional Tournament as the state’s representative. She enjoys attending professional sporting events and is often seen skiing and hiking in Vail or meticulously landscaping her yard. Mary grew up in Denver where she successfully competed in high school basketball, volleyball and soccer.
