Coach Steve Hyatt spent 6 years as the head coach of the Colorado Academy boys’ basketball program and was the driving force behind the team’s success. In his first season, 2013-2014, Hyatt guided the program to its first state championship appearance, where they lost to Holy Family by 1 point. In his second season, 2014-2015, he guided the program to their second straight state championship appearance where they lost to Colorado Springs Christian by 3 points. In his 3rd season,  2015-2016, his team placed 5th in state. His combined record the past 3 years is 62-19. Prior to coaching basketball at Colorado Academy, Coach Hyatt taught special needs students and coached basketball at Bear Creek High for 28 years.

Coach Hyatt earned his Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1985. He and his wife, Joni have three children: daughters Mallory and Bethany, and son Christian. He enjoys traveling with his family and their favorite place to visit is the Hot Springs Pool in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.


  • The camp is located at Carson Elem 5420 E 1st Ave. Denver 80220
  • The camp runs from August 3-7, 2020
  • 9am-12pm each day.
  • The camp is for boys and girls ages 7-12.
  • Please bring your own basketball and water bottle
  • Please meet coaches in the gym and sign in/out your camper daily
