DREAM BIG LAUNCHES “PROJECT DENVER”!

In 2010 we hosted 90 youngsters from Gilpin Elementary, Cole K-8, Whittier Elementary, I Have a Dream Foundation, Prodigal Son and Place Bridge Academy.  The children got to “play camp” with Dream BIG’s finest staff who volunteered their time to children who otherwise would be unable to attend camp.  The camp is completely free of charge to these youngsters.

Campers participated in rollerblading, dance, karate, “coolinary”, basketball, soccer, art, wellness, Splash (water play) and more! They even got to scale the 30 ft climbing wall! Enormous thanks go to Ouray Sportwear, Quiznos, Steubens, Pasquinis Pizzerias, Magician Rob Hanson, Avid 4 Adventure, Play Well TEKnology, Robinson Dairy, Freshpoint Produce and Michael’s of Denver for generously donating product or services for this program! A huge thanks to Andy Raicevich and Steve Clark at Denver Public Schools for their incredible support in this endeavor!

KLIMBING FOR KIDZ!

Dream BIG campers have an opportunity to hone their climbing skills and help children who less fortunate. This is fun, challenging and a great self esteem booster! We document the number of feet our community climbs throughout the summer at Dream BIG. Then you, the parent, can contribute dollars if you like.  In 2010, we climbed over 137,000 feet or just shy of 26 miles! That’s almost a marathon!

The funds raised are distributed to two organizations. Project Morry is an organization that is very near and dear to our hearts. Click on the logo or picture to learn about Morry Stein (George’s father), a man on a crusade to enable children of all socio-economic groups to derive the wonderful benefits of summer camp.

Currently, there are 50 camps located on the east coast that are identified by the Project Morry community as “Camps that Give”. In 2010 they raised over $375,000 by swimming, walking and running to raise money for underprivileged children to participate in the nationally awarded Project Morry program. Dream Big Day Camp is the only camp west of the Mississippi!

Project Denver is the other beneficiary of the money raised from the Klimbing for Kidz Campaign. Though most products and services are generously donated to us for this program, there are some expenses associated with the program so this helps enormously.

"The organized summer camp is the most important step in education that America has given the world."
